Plans are under way to develop a four-screen cinema as part of a new commercial development in Ballinasloe town.
Paddy Delaney has submitted a pre-validation planning application to the Galway County Council seeking permission for the cinema, which would seat approximately 600 people, along with four retail units, two office units, ESB substation, roads, car parking, signage, and associated works at a site in Dunlo townland. The development would also require the demolition of an agricultural shed on the site.

When the Volvo Ocean Race was launched in Alicante, Spain, there were no flyovers by warplanes, so why should the British air force be invited to Galway?
This is the view of the Galway Alliance Against War which has raised concerns about Let’s Do Galway’s invite to the Royal Air Force’s Red Arrows to perform a flyover of Galway to coincide with the race’s stopover in late May.

“A complete waste of public money” is how Independent Cllr Thomas Welby has described a €300,000 allocation from the National Roads Authority to review the Moycullen bypass.
The review could include proposals for a completely new route for the bypass which has already gone through a rigorous and costly design process, with a figure in excess of €2 million quoted for the initial works.
