Table quiz in Headford

Table quiz buffs should head to the Angler’s Rest, Headford tomorrow Friday (April 24) at 8.30pm when the annual Round Ireland Motor Bike Drive for Down Syndrome Ireland will hold a quiz.

Entry is €40 per table for seniors and €20 per table for juniors and there are loads of great prizes on offer.

Scot jailed for possession and drug dealing

A Scottish man, known to the Garda Drugs Squad, was sentenced to five months in jail for possession and drug dealing offences.

The Galway District Court heard this week that although 31-year-old Edward Nugent had no previous convictions he was known by gardai as being involved in drugs and had been caught red-handed.

Tributes paid to Seán Ó Neachtain as he bows out of EU race

Barely two weeks after he was nominated to stand as Fianna Fáil’s North West candidate for the European elections, MEP Seán Ó Neachtain made the surprise announcement on Monday that he would not run again.
