Tractor drivers should stop using plough lamps on roads

Tractor drivers are being advised that plough lamps to the rear of the vehicle should not be used when travelling on public roads.

Work lamps, commonly known as ploughing lamps are fitted to agricultural tractors and self-propelled machinery. These lamps generally emit a white light to the rear of the vehicle to give extra visibility when working on the farm. Only red and amber lights should appear on the rear of a vehicle when used on the road.

Galway leading new car sales in 2022

Co Galway is one of three counties that has grown its new car sales in the last two months compared to January/February 2021.

Galway shows the highest jump with 166 more new cars sold in the period. Co Wicklow had 93 more sales, and Co Meath registered 64 more new cars than last year. All other counties saw less new car sales for the period than for similar months last year.

Motorists admit taking ‘morning after’ driving risk Register of of drink-drivers mooted

Some 10 per cent of motorists admit that in the past year they have driven the day after a night out while possibly still over the legal blood-alcohol limit.

According to a recent AA Ireland survey, three per cent of people said they had travelled with someone who they believed was over the limit in the past year. Sixteen per cent said they “weren’t sure” if the person was over the limit or not.
