Ireland rugby star Johnny Sexton has joined Lexus Ireland as an ambassador until 2019. Ahead of a busy summer period of international fixtures and this Autumn’s highly-anticipated Rugby World Cup, Johnny took time out of his training schedule and was this week presented with a Lexus RX450h.

The new Volvo S60 saloon, which goes into production from this autumn, will be the first Volvo to be produced without a diesel engine, highlighting Volvo Cars’ commitment to a long-term future beyond the traditional combustion engine.
The new Volvo models launched from 2019 will be available as either a mild petrol hybrid, plug-in petrol hybrid, or battery electric vehicle. This is the most comprehensive electrification strategy in the car industry and Volvo Cars was the first traditional car maker to commit to all-out electrification in July 2017.

New car registrations for the first quarter are down -5.5 per cent (71,805) compared to the first quarter of last year (75,982), according to the Society of the Irish Motor Industry.
New light commercial vehicle (LCV) registrations were up 5.3 per cent (12,529) when compared to last year (11,900), while new heavy commercial vehicles (HGV) have declined 11.2 per cent (916) year to date.

This follows a 50 per cent increase in cyclist fatalities last year (2017), and in the light of these stark statistics, drivers are being asked to slow down and keep a safe distance when overtaking cyclists on both urban and rural roads. This call comes following serious concerns over the number of cyclists killed on Irish roads this year.
