We are living in an age of technology which as we all know can have many benefits, however it can also create real harm and distress to our teenage population today. E-mails, mobile phones, cameras, texting, and numerous websites and chat groups such as Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and Tik Tok are being used by young people to bully other young people and their friends in and out of school. Photographic images are used which can be seen by strangers as well as people known to you. This can harm the online image of the person involved. Cyberbullying can be persistent and permanent in some instances. Sometimes it can be very hard to notice as teachers or parents/guardians have not picked up on it online.

ATU Mountbellew to host open day on agricultural courses and campus life

Atlantic Technological University (ATU) Mountbellew will hold an open day on Wednesday, March 1, from 10am to 12.30pm for secondary school students, parents, teachers, and mature applicants on all ATU and Teagasc agriculture courses delivered on campus.

Staff and students will be on hand to answer questions about the courses, ranging from Level 5 (post Leaving Cert) to Level 8 (honours degree), and representatives from ATU’s Student Services, Access and Participation Office, Disability and Learning Support Service, and Students’ Union will provide information on all the supports and services available to ATU students, including information on clubs, societies, and sporting activities.

GRETB offers subsidised upskilling and reskilling options for staff, creating a straightforward way to help increase productivity and competitiveness in a fast-changing business sector. One of the main programmes on offer is Skills to Advance. This is a Government-funded initiative that provides upskilling and reskilling opportunities to employees in jobs undergoing change and to those currently employed in vulnerable sectors. Working closely with small and medium-sized enterprises, Skills to Advance helps employers identify skills needs and invest in their workforce by providing partial or fully funded education and training to staff.
