New children’s book and website launched

A new children’s book, by the Athenry writer and illustrator Morag Kelly, which deals with the ecology, friendship, sustainability, and the natural cycles of life, was launched recently.

The book, Gordon Goes to Greenieland, and its companion website www.greenieland.ie, was recently launched in The Druid Theatre by the city arts officer James Harrold.

Kingfisher NUIG boss named Manager of the Year at ILAM awards

Barry Phelan, General Manager of the Kingfisher Club, NUI Galway has been named ‘ILAM Manager of the Year’ at the White Flag Awards which were held in the Breaffy House Hotel in Castlebar. ILAM is the industry body which represents sports, fitness, aquatic facilities, spas and wellness in Ireland. As his prize, Mr Phelan has won a trip to the 29th Annual International Health, Racquet and Sportsclub Association (IHRSA) Convention and Trade Show which takes place from March 10-13 at the San Diego Convention Centre, California.

With almost 20 years’ experience in the fitness industry in the UK, France and Ireland, which includes management positions with both the Living Well group in the UK and the City West Campus in Dublin, Mr Phelan was appointed to the Position of General Manager of the Kingfisher Group Galway in July 2007.

Galway-based company Lighthouse Networks has just announced the launch of a new Wireless Broadband Service for Galway city and the surrounding areas. The new service is being marketed under the name “Lightnet235” and it provides broadband subscribers in Galway with a very competitively priced broadband service. It uses the very latest fixed wireless access technology and has an entry level price of just €20 per month.

According to the managing director of Lighthouse Networks, Enda Broderick, “The new service is different to other wireless broadband technologies like mobile broadband. Our service is professionally installed at the customer’s premises and it provides much better upload speeds and quality of service than is typically available with mobile broadband.
