Funding for Coláiste an Chreagáin

Deputy Seán Canney has received confirmation that Coláiste an Chreagáin, Mountbellew, has been allocated funding by the Department of Education for a new science lab and prep area.

‘The funding is a great boost for the school, which was threatened with closure last year,” he said. addingthat this is a vote of confidence in the school, its staff, parents and students.

“I believe that Coláiste an Chreagáin will use this as a catalyst for further expansion and I am delighted for all concerned with the school,” he concluded.

Attempted burglary in Mountbellew

Gardai are appealing for information following an attempted break-in at a pharmacy in Mountbellew in the early hours of Friday March 9.

The incident happened at around 4am on Friday morning. It is thought the culprits were disturbed by the alarm being activated. Anyone with information is asked to contact Mountbellew Garda Station at 09096 79292.

St Patrick’s Day

The St Patrick’s Day parade takes place in the city this Saturday, beginning at 11.30am on Fr Griffin Road.

Rolling road closures will be place from this time, with minimum disruption to traffic. Anyone wishing to cross the city is advised to use the Quincentenary Bridge. The parade is due to finish at 1pm.

Carnmore break-in investigated

A business at Carnmore, Claregalway, was broken in to in the early hours of Friday March 9.

Anyone who noticed unusual activity in the area last Thursday night/Friday morning is asked to contact Galway Garda Station at 091 538000.
