The importance of making a will

On Thursday February 22 and Thursday March 8, free legal advisory evenings on the importance of making a Will and the practical steps to take in order to make a valid Will, will be delivered by Cormac McCarthy Solicitor B.A., L.L.B., MBS, Dip. Prop. Tax and John Mitchell Solicitor L.L.B. The advisory evenings will take place from 7.30 pm to 8.30 pm in The Connacht Hotel on the Dublin Road and The Westwood Hotel in Newcastle respectively.

While making a Will can seem like a daunting task for many, it is important to leave one’s affairs in order. The free advisory evenings will outline how making a Will gives a testator (the person making the Will ) peace of mind knowing that their assets will be distributed in accordance with their wishes.

The advisory evenings are being organised in association with Galway Hospice Foundation. The current major developments at the hospice and future planning have been hugely aided by legacies from members of the public. While attendees will be encouraged to consider including Galway Hospice and/or other charities of their choice in their Will, there will be no obligation on anyone attending to commit to anything.
