Grow your enterprise with LEADER-supported training

The first few months of the year is a good time to think of the future, to explore options and to develop ideas. If you have ever thought of starting or expanding your own enterprise, then LEADER in Galway Rural Development could help.

LEADER is a rural development programme, funded through the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development, that aims to improve the quality of life in rural areas. One of those area is east Galway (that part of the county east of the Corrib ) where LEADER is implemented by Galway Rural Development and Comhar na nOileán.

Niche rural businesses wishing to expand, rural tourism enterprises, individuals interested in developing a new start-up, and community organisations wishing to enhance and sustain local activities could all benefit from LEADER.

While LEADER is chiefly known for capital grants, training is an area that can also be supported under LEADER. Maybe your enterprise needs new equipment, but you need relevant training – that could be included as part of your application. Would your community group like to undertake a training programme to develop their skills? Why not find out how LEADER could support you.

LEADER staff have years of experience and are available to discuss your project idea. The first step is to fill out the LEADER expression of interest form, available from www.grd.ie or from the LEADER office in Athenry at 091 844335.
