Moycullen handball awarded top club

Moycullen has claimed top honours at the O'Neill's GAA Handball All-Star Awards in Croke Park.

Winning the prestigious Club of the Year award was the icing on the cake for the club which was shortlisted in four categories.

Tony Audley was nominated for Club Person of the Year, while brothers Martin and Diarmuid Mulkerrins were nominees for senior and youth player respectively.

Winning the prestigious Club of the Year award is recognition for all involved with this successful club, which now boasts two top class 40x20 courts and a state-of-the-art 60x30 court. The completion of the viewing galleries, with the help of Roinn na Gaeltachta grant aid last spring completed eight years of work and dedication by the club's motivated committee.

The facility is now among the finest in the country and has hosted the juvenile nationals finals for the last two years.

Moycullen, with a long tradition of handball going back to the 1920s, now has 120 members, and has claimed nearly all available juvenile titles in the last 10 years along with collegiate and world titles.
