Gradam Sheosaimh Uí Ógartaigh is named in honour of the late Seosamh Ó hÓgartaigh, founding member and company secretary of Gaillimh le Gaeilge. It is organised by Gaillimh le Gaeilge in association with the Galway Advertiser and with support from the Galway Chamber.
Speaking on this this year’s bilingual business award, Bríd Ní Chonghóile, Ardfheidhmeannach Ghaillimh le Gaeilge said; “The Gradam is now in its 16th year and has gone from strength to strength. It contributes without doubt, to the increase in the use of the Irish language in the city which has enhanced Galway’s status as Ireland’s Bilingual city and European Capital of Culture 2020. We look forward to a very busy few months ahead as we prepare and organise Galway businesses for the Gradam moltóirí. They will meet for the first time to adjudicate all of the Gradam nominees in mid-April 2018. Is am gnóthach dúinn é cinnte ach beidh sé ar fheabhas ag an am céanna!”
Gradam Sheosaimh Uí Ógartaigh is now open for nominations until Monday February 23 2018 and entry is free of charge. You can nominate your own business/organisation or you can also nominate a business/organisation to enter the Gradam.
You don’t need to be a fluent speaker to participate as foireann Ghaillimh le Gaeilge will help you every step of the way. They will offer you the ‘Gaeilge sa Ghnó/Irish in Business’ service free of charge.
This service is a designed bespoke package in which you are guided through the process of adapting some or all of your business to bilingualism. Foireann Ghaillimh le Gaeilge will arrange a meeting with you and review your business in terms of its visual image – signage, marketing material, social media, advertising etc. They will examine various possibilities in terms of the use of Irish in your business or organisation. You have over 3 months to prepare as adjudication will take place in mid-April.
Gaillimh le Gaeilge is currently putting a schedule together and would love to meet with businesses and organisations who are interested in using the Irish language to create a bilingual business.
