McNelis appointed Labour spokesperson on tourism

Niall McNelis, the Galway city councillor and local businessman, has been appointed Labour Party spokesperson on tourism by party leader Brendan Howlin.

Cllr McNelis, who is also Labour’s Galway West candidate for the next general election, will be working on policy and “raising awareness of the opportunities, threats, and issues” facing the tourist industry at a local and national level, including Brexit, training and development, skills shortage in the sector, regional spread, and sustainable tourism.

“I am really looking forward to this role as I have worked in it all my life,” he said. “Tourism is one of the biggest contributors to the economy of Ireland.”
