FROM THE depths of the Swedish hardcore underground come God Mother, who are set to bring their aggressive, high energy, fast-paced hardcore, seasoned with deathmetal and sludge, to the first FEAST gig of 2018.
God Mother - Sebastian Campbell (vocals ), Max Lindström (guitar ), Daniel Noring (bass ), Michael Dahlström (drums ) - play upstairs in the Róisín on Saturday January 20 at 9pm. Dahlström formed the band in 2012 and since then they have toured internationally - including being the first Swedish hardcore band to play Guatemala. They have released a number of EPs, while their debut album, Maktbehov, came out in 2015.
Last year saw the release of the band's second album, Vilseledd, via Party Smasher Inc records, home of The Dillinger Escape Plan, Giraffe Tongue Orchestra, and Primitive Weapons. The album has enjoyed critical acclaim, with Pitchfork declaring, "Although the band draw heavily from locally-sourced styles like black metal, d-beat, and death’n’roll, they’d rather contort tradition than kowtow to it"; while Metal Injection went so far as to say it “will f**k you up”.
Support is from the outstanding Galway metal/hardcore/prog band Ilenkus. Admission is €7.
