For the 20th consecutive year, Cregmore National School hosted a coffee morning, cake sale and monster raffle, with all proceeds donated to St. Vincent de Paul. The event, coordinated by the pupils of 6th class, under the guidance of their teachers Ms McCormack and Mr Madden, proved to be a huge success with a large number of parents, grandparents, past pupils and friends popping into the school hall to feast on some wonderful baking and enjoy the entertainment of both the school choir and the school trad group.
Guests of honour on the day were the senior citizens who travelled by bus from the Claregalway Day Care Centre.A total of €1,000 was raised on the day while 10 large boxes of dry food were also donated to the St Vincent de Paul.
An additional €300 was presented to the Paediatric Unit of NUIG to help fund the enhancement project of the Unit which is due to commence shortly. The pupils of sixth class stressed that they would like to sincerely thank everyone who supported the event, including those who baked cakes, who purchased cakes and raffle tickets, and in particular those who provided items for the 20 wonderful hampers which were raffled.
Mr Mattie Kelly accepted the money and food on behalf of St Vincent de Paul and concluded his visit by thanking most sincerely the pupils, teachers, and school community of Cregmore National School for their loyalty and continued generosity to the charity
