Gardai are asking members of the public to be mindful to whom they give their money, be it those collecting for charities and organisations on the street or those calling to your door.
Bogus collectors are more prevalent at this time of year and play on people’s good will.
Genuine collectors will have an identification and a permit, they should be happy to show both of these and to answer questions about the collection.
