Karl Marx's young years on screen

Young Marx live from The Bridge Theatre, London, to The Eye Cinema, Wellpark

HE HAS appeared in the Daniel Craig James Bond films as Bond's staunchest ally, Bill Tanner, but Rory Kinnear is about to go over to the other side, playing the role of revolutionary and intellectual Karl Marx.

Britain's National Theatre will stage Young Marx, a new comedy written by Richard Bean and Clive Coleman, at The Bridge Theatre in London this evening and it will be broadcast live to The Eye Cinema, Wellpark, at 7pm.

Set in 1850, Marx is hiding in Dean Street, Soho. Broke, restless, and mischievous, he is a frothing combination of intellectual brilliance, invective, and satiric wit. Creditors, spies, rival revolutionary factions, and prospective seducers of his wife all circle like vultures. Meanwhile, his friend Engels (Oliver Chris ) is in despair that Marx's genius is not getting its due. Still, there are no better men to show you a wild night out in London.
