Gardai are advising people to be mindful of who they give money to, when dealing with people collecting for charities and organisations on the street or those calling door to door.
Bogus collectors are more prevalent at this time of year, and play on people’s goodwill. Genuine collectors will have an identification, and a permit, and they should be happy to show both of these and to answer any questions about the collection.
