The Skeff Late Bar and Kitchen, The Skeffington Arms Hotel and DNA Nightclub will be developing closer ties with local charities as they head into the New Year.
It is clear to all that there are many in the community who need support from those that can afford to, and most importantly want to, help a little.
Over the Christmas period they will be working closely with COPE GALWAY, who address the challenges posed by inequality and isolation in Galway by donating food to some of their accommodations as well as sponsoring and taking an active role in the organisation of a Christmas party for the elderly in Mervue and undertaking a Christmas Wishlist campaign, which has been launched this week, gathering toiletries for the homeless.
Furthermore, the Simon Community, who provide housing, support and health care services to those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, will receive a weekly delivery of ready-made hot meals straight from the Skeff kitchen and food hampers to assist them with their ‘Cold Weather Initiative’.
The Skeff team will visit the local shelters and catering facilities to see, hear and understand first-hand what tremendous work both of these organisations do.
As they enter 2018 they will be looking to see what organisations they can help in a very tangible way.
Already, thanks to the efforts of the staff during the months of October and November, they helped to raise €800 for Western Alzheimer’s (Publican Pint Race ), €400 for The Galway Simon Community (Soup for Simon ) and hosted a table quiz in partnership with GoBus which raised over €1400 for Croi.
