A weekend of public meetings on pressing issues

The Peadar O'Donnell Socialist Republican Forum to hold three days of lectures/events

The housing crisis, Ireland's natural resources, economics, and the European Union will be discussed in Galway this weekend at a series of talks organised by The Peadar O'Donnell Socialist Republican Forum.

This 'political education forum' takes place tomorrow, Saturday, and Sunday, and opens with a public meeting on the theme ‘Ireland, Neoliberalism, and the European Union’ in the Harbour Hotel on Friday at 7.30pm. Speakers will include Prof Terence McDonough and former county councillor Seosamh Ó Cuaig.

Saturday will see public meetings on ‘Who is to Blame for the Irish Housing Crisis’ and ‘The Great Natural Resources Robbery’ at 2.30pm and 3.45pm respectively. Both take place in the Galway Mechanics Institute, Middle Street, and feature Independent Galway West TD Catherine Connolly, and Brian Leeson of Éirígí. The public is also invited to attend a public discussion in the Maldron Hotel, Oranmore, on Sunday at 11am.

The Peadar O'Donnell Socialist Republican Forum was established in 2013 and comprises individuals and political organisations “committed to providing a space for those who want to advance more radical solutions to the many economic, political, and social challenges facing working people throughout the country”.
