This is from a 1915 notice for Chill Rónáin pier on Inis Mór and can be viewed as part of the Galway County Council's mini online exhibition, Pier & Harbour Public Notices and their Conservation, which is part of the larger Explore Your Archive campaign, which runs from November 18 to 28.
The notices - viewable via www.galway.ie\archives\exhibitions - dating from between 1882 and 1916, detail the bye-laws, rules, and regulations and penalties associated with a particular pier or harbour. Others include a schedule of tolls and rates to be paid by vessels using the pier. Some of the notices were originally in a very fragile condition, but have been restored recently. The exhibition features some before and after images, detailing the intricate work involved in conservation.
