It is a local derby on Friday night in the Ulster Bank division 2a when Galwegians entertain city rivals Corinthians at Crowley park (7.30pm ).
Both sides have struggled for early season form, with just two wins each from six outings. Having won two from their first three games, Wegians, who lost a significant portion of last year's squad for various reasons, have struggled in their last few games.
Two heavy defeats against Ulster opposition Malone and Queens University saw them slide to eighth place in the 10-team league. Worse followed when they had to content themselves with a losing bonus point at lowly Greystones last weekend - a missed opportunity.
Neighbours Corinthians sit just one place above them, by virtue of having claimed two extra bonus points. Having suffered a poor early-season start, the Cloonacauneen men come into this game buoyed by an impressive win at home to Cashel last week.
Local pride and badly-needed points will be at stake in what should be tense nail-biter which could go either way.
