Galway’s most prominent residential development site comes to the market

One of the most important parcels of residential land in Galway city has just this week been brought to the open market. Joint selling agents, DNG Maxwell Heaslip & Leonard and O’Donnellan & Joyce, have been instructed to bring to the market by way of private treaty c9.76 acres of zoned residential development lands on the Dublin Road, on the immediate outskirts of Galway city centre.

The lands are currently the home of Galwegians Rugby Football Club, which has been in situ since 1963. The club's board of management has taken the decision to bring the property to the market and relocate to a larger, more modern, facility that suits the needs of the expanding rugby club. The famous grounds, known as Crowley Park, are located in Glenina in the Renmore area of Galway city and were previously brought to the market in 2007, however, the club did not secure alternative grounds and the sale never proceeded.

Under the most recent Galway City Development Plan the lands are zoned residential with huge development potential. Without doubt, one of the most attractive sites to come to the Irish property market in recent years, the holding is strategically placed and is adjacent to the GMIT within a short distance of the M6 motorway. The lands front on to the old Dublin Road and are in an area that is primarily residential, with the Bon Secours Hospital directly opposite, and the almost complete Galway Garda Station just 200m away.

The lands are being offered to the market by way of private treaty and joint selling agents James Heaslip and Colm O’Donnellan are expecting a lot of interest. Colm O’Donnellan commented: "This is an excellent opportunity to acquire an outstanding development site with great potential. Galway has a huge issue with the lack of housing available at present. The development of this site would go a small way towards easing the pent up demand which is prevalent at the moment. The city authorities have been actively seeking lands, such as this, for development and we have no doubt that this fits the requirements for high-density building.”

O’Donnellan & Joyce and DNG Maxwell Heaslip & Leonard are quoting a minimum sales price in the region of €6 million for Crowley Park. Full particulars are available by contacting Colm O’Donnellan at (091 ) 564212 or James Heaslip (091 ) 565261.
