Franz Ferdinand - tickets for Galway show on sale tomorrow

Scottish band to release new album, Always Ascending, the day before they play Salthill

FRANZ FERDINAND play only two shows in Ireland in 2018 - and one of them is in Galway, with the Scottish quintet in concert in Leisureland, Salthill, the day after they release their new album Always Ascending.

Always Ascending, the title track of which is streaming now, is released on Saturday February 9, via Domino records, while the band play Leisureland on Saturday February 10.

The album was recorded at RAK Studios, London, and Motorbass in Paris with French producer Philippe Zdar (Cassius, Phoenix, The Beastie Boys ). By all accounts, the 10-track album sees the band - Alex Kapranos, Bob Hardy, Paul Thomson, Julian Corrie and Dino Bardot - broadening their sound, and engaging in experimentation, to deliver something Kapranos has called “simultaneously futuristic and naturalistic".

Always Ascending is available to pre-order via iTunes and all DSPs and will be available on CD, vinyl and limited edition cassette via DomMart, with a special DomMart edition, featuring marbled blue and white vinyl, a signed print, and tote bag.

Tickets for the Irish shows are available from 9am on Friday November 3. For more see franzferdinand.com
