Colin Stafford-Johnson's wild side of life

'The Irish David Attenborough' to speak at the Town Hall Theatre

COLIN STAFFORD-Johnson, Ireland's foremost nature and wildlife cinematographer and presenter, who some regard as 'the Irish David Attenborough', is coming to Galway to talk wildlife and adventure at the Town Hall Theatre.

The multi award winning Stafford-Johnson, a wildlife cameraman and presenter, with more than 30 years' experience in the field, will present a show entitled Living the Wild Life… on Monday November 6 at 8pm.

In his talk, Colin will explain why his coming upon a pen and ink sketch of a tropical bird at the age of six changed his life; how he became a wildlife cameraman; and the challenges of filming the wild.

His shows, such as Secret Life of the Shannon, Edge of the World, Living the Wildlife, and Wild Ireland, have seen him exploring every corner of Ireland. In India, Stafford-Johnson explored the tiger population which is rapidly declining. He filmed the BBC documentary A Tiger Called Broken Tail which featured a mother tiger Maccli and her son, christened Broken Tail by Colin and the crew. In this fascinating film Colin follows the life and adventures of Broken Tail, highlighting the plight of tigers in the wild.
