Celebrate Diwali with Galway’s Indian community

Diwali: Festival of Lights, one of the main festivals of Hinduism which celebrates the triumph of light over darkness, good over evil, hope over despair, will be celebrated in Galway at the Connacht Hotel on Monday October 30 at 5pm.

This year’s event will begin with reverent contemplation for Lakshmi Puja, and lamps will be lit to symbolise the triumph of light over darkness. Guests of honour will address the gathering and share their thoughts on the meaning of Diwali. This will be followed by our cultural programme, featuring performances in the Indian and the Irish traditions. Indian food will be served and the evening will conclude with Bollywood-style music and everyone will be invited to take to the dancefloor to finish the celebration.

Galway Indian Community was established in 2006, with the aim of sustaining and passing on Indian culture and traditions to the next generation of Galwegians of Indian origin, and with the objective of sharing this culture with all.

All Galwegians are invited to the Diwali celebrations. Tickets are still available via 089 - 4366069 or 085 - 1045291 or online at eventgen.ie/galway-diwali-2017
