Mundy brings Jelly Legs to Monroe's Live

Offaly singer-songwriter marks debut album's 21st birthday with Irish tour

ON OCTOBER 14 1996, an Offaly singer-songwriter going by the name of Mundy released his debut album, Jelly Legs, on Epic Records, a subsidiary of Sony. It won critical praise and sold 60,000 copies around the world.

A song from that album, 'To You I Bestow’ appeared on the soundtrack to the Hollywood blockbuster Romeo and Juliet, directed by Baz Luhrman, while ‘Pardon Me’ and ‘Life’s a Cinch’ enjoyed MTV and VH1 rotation.

Munday was 21 when he released that album, and now Jelly Legs is 21. To mark this milestone in the midland man's career, he is touring the album around Ireland, including a show in Monroe's Live on Friday October 27 at 8pm. He will be joined by members of his old band, Steo Farrell (guitar ), Cion O’Callaghan (drums ), and Shane Fitzsimons (bass ). In 1996 this line-up toured France, Britain, and the US, supporting Van Morrison, Manic Street Preachers, Cast, and Stereophonics.

Support is from North Carolina's Happy Abandon, who have won praise from clashmusic.com for their "uniquely heartfelt songwriting betraying an enormous amount of honesty". Tickets are available via www.monroes.ie www.ticketmaster.ie.
