Carnmore hurlers drop to intermediate

The Carnmore hurlers will play intermediate hurling next season after going down by 0-17 to 0-11 to Abbeyknockmoy in the relegation play-off in Pearse Stadium at the weekend.

Carnmore missed a penalty in the last few minutes, but truth be told, their form over the past few months has been so poor they can have no complaints about their drop in the ranks.

Carnmore is a proud hurling club which reached county senior finals in 1992, 1993 and 1996.

However, they came up against really top teams at that time, such as Athenry and Sarsfields, who both went on to win All-Ireland club titles.

Hopefully they will be able to regroup over the next few years and come back as a force in the senior ranks.
