Galwegians host Blackrock

Galwegians RFC have much to work on before taking on a winless Blackrock College at Crowley Park this Saturday (2.30pm ).

With an opportunity to post a second win, Galwegians need to utilise home advantage after newly promoted City of Armagh got the better of them, winning 26-10 last Saturday.

The visitors took an early lead with a Cormac Fox penalty, and added a try after 20 minutes.

Wegians did have their chances in the first half, but they spurned two real opportunities before Fox added another penalty. Just before half-time Armagh landed a killer blow when winger Andrew Willis crossed for a converted try to put them 18-0 clear.

Wegians used the wind advantage to go on the attack from the restart, but they failed to take two crucial early chances, knocking the ball on over the line on one occasion. They eventually opened their account through a Morgan Codyre penalty in the 53rd minute, but the visitors gained in confidence as they comfortably withstood all Wegians could throw at the, and added a penalty and try. .

A late consolation try from Brian Murphy converted by Codyre was too little, too late.
