The fifth annual Bike-2-Bofin charity cycle takes place on Saturday October 14, with an option of 90k from Galway city to Cleggan to Inishbofin, or a shorter 45k from Maam Cross. Cyclists are welcome to participate in either route option. This event is open to cyclists of all levels and promises to be both challenging and fun filled with the option of an overnight stay on the island of Inishbofin.
This cycle is in support of local charity Voices for Down Syndrome Galway. Since the inaugural cycle in 2013, €100,000 has been raised, a staggering achievement for all involved. Following the success of last year's event it is hoped to raise much needed funds for the organisation again this year.
Registration fee for the 90k/45k cycle is €60, which includes entry fee, race pack and event T-shirt, food/refreshments stops en route, return ferry to Inishbofin, dinner/buffet plus entertainment on the Saturday night, bus and transport of bikes to Galway on the Sunday.
There will be no registration on the day of the cycle, all cyclists must register online at www.njuko.net/bike2bofin before October 14 to participate. The event is capped at 150 entrants, and following the success of previous years, and the high level of interest in this year’s event, early registration is advisable.
The primary purpose of Bike-2-Bofin is for all participants to approach this event in an enthusiastic manner and enjoy a worthwhile endeavour, while raising valuable funds in support of Voices for Down Syndrome Galway. One hundred per cent of funds raised/donated by each participant will support the vital work done by the charity in providing speech and language therapy to children and adults with Down syndrome in Galway city and county.
