GPA Solutions is offering a range of QQI Level 5 business awards catering for learners wishing to advance their business skills or for those who simply wish to gain an introduction to payroll or computerised accounts.
This year sees the start of two courses, a manual and computerised payroll award and a manual and computerised bookkeeping award (QuickBooks ).
The QQI Level 5 payroll skills course will commence on October 2, over four days, one day a week for four weeks. Learners will acquire a thorough knowledge of basic PAYE computations to include the cumulative, week 1, and emergency tax basis. Learners will learn and understand PRSI and USC computations, how to deal with starters and leavers, file Revenue forms, and year end procedures in both a manual and computerised context.
The Level 6 payroll award is ideal for learners who wish to further develop their existing payroll skills by focusing on areas such as tax implications when calculating pensions, BIKs, illness and maternity benefit, and cycle to work scheme in both a manual and computerised context. The course will also explore aspects of relevant employment law, various Revenue reports, and filing with ROS and year end procedures. This course will run for two evenings over five weeks, commencing October 19 in Galway.
The QuickBooks course will run for five days over four weeks, commencing October 4 in Galway. Learners will experience setting up a company, entering source documents in the various day books, and preparing debtors' and creditors' balances and reports. Learners will learn to produce VAT reports, bank reconciliation, and monthly profit and loss and balance sheet reports.
Both courses are delivered through lectures, case studies to resemble a real business scenario, group discussion, and assignments. Additional online resources are also available to all learners.
