Galway Women's FC is urging all supporters to support them on Saturday in their first final in the club's history.
Billy Clery's side will host UCD Waves in the Continental Tyres WNL Shield in Eamonn Deacy Park on Saturday at 5pm in a bid to win their first silverware.
And to get into the spirit of this special occasion, the final will be preceded by the Continental Tyres Festival of Football with many fun activities for all.
Galway captain Méabh De Búrca says the team is hoping to add to the recent sporting success in the county.
“With the hurlers winning, we know there is a great sporting buzz around Galway at the moment and we will be hoping to add to this on Saturday evening.
"The girls are really looking forward to what will be the first final in our history. and we are hoping that we will win it.
"We are getting great support from local clubs and we are hoping we will see a huge crowd from the underage leagues to come out and support us. We will be focused on putting in a big performance and hopefully getting the right result.”
Billy Clery’s side will be intent on bouncing back having been knocked out of the FAI Cup last weekend when they went down 2-0 away to Shelbourne.
Despite a bright opening, Galway WFC failed to get a foothold in the first half as Shels dominated and made it count midway through the first half with two goals in three minutes. The first came when American Gloria Douglas picked out Fiona Donnelly, with her shot from 30 yards finding the net. Then Siobhan Killen gathered the ball on the right before cutting in and firing home.
Immediately Galway looked to pull one back, first through Méabh De Búrca, whose shot went wide, and then through Lucy Hannon, who saw her effort saved.
Galway sparked into life in the second half, and the introduction of Elle O’Flaherty and Therese Hartley turned the momentum in Galway’s favour. Unfortunately, despite creating endless chances, Galway were unable to make it count on the scoreboard.
Admission to Terryland on Saturday is €5 for adults. All children are free.
