St Patrick’s Festival @ GPO

THE GPO will celebrate St Patrick’s week early and in style, DJ Arveene and the brilliant Japanese Popstars being just two of the acts playing the Eglinton Street venue over the next few days.

To celebrate the launch of Hells Bells on Gung Ho! Records in April, Arveene and Misk are currently touring Ireland. They play the GPO tomorrow where they will showcase new material and mess around with other people’s tracks.

There will be a DJ set from Arveene and the Trash Doll’s DJ Louise in Drum. The pre-party starts at 9pm. Admission is €10. There is free entry before 12 midnight with a stamp.

On Saturday it’s The Japanese Popstars (Declan McLaughlin, Gary Curran, and Gareth Donoghue ), regarded by Mixmag as not just one of the most exciting electro/dance acts to ever emerge from Ireland, but to ever emerge from anywhere.

BBC Radio 1’s Pete Tong is a huge fan, while The Guardian said “file next to Orbital, Underworld and The Chemical Brothers”. IDJ magazine simply said “Do believe the hype...”

Support is from Ferg and Mark M in Drum. Tickets are €10.

On Sunday, DJ Hype, Jay Q, and MC Daddy Earl take to the stage. DJ Hype is a stage name of drum and bass producer and DJ Kevin Ford, and widely considered one of the pillars of modern drum’n’bass.

DJ Hype has been popular on the international DJ circuit, landing awards for Best Male DJ and Best Radio DJ in 1994 and 1995, respectively. He is also one of the London radio station Kiss 100’s main broadcasters. Tickets are €10.

On Monday Mark M will be spinning the decks. Admission is €5 and on St Patrick’s Night it will be DJ Jason. Admission is €10.

All main shows start at 11pm and there will pre-parties in Drum from 9pm.
