Mary Coughlan - Irish tour, Galway show

Singer to perform at Town Hall Theatre

MARY COUGHLAN'S autumn/winter tour of Ireland will see her play a home town concert at the end of this month, making her upcoming show a welcome chance to see one of the nation's most outstanding singers in action.

Mary Coughlan plays the Town Hall Theatre on Friday September 22 at 8pm where she will perform songs from across her 10 album and 30 year career. During that time she has made the most uncompromising, wholly personal, and universal music by any Irish artist. While her music mainly draws on jazz and blues - Billie Holiday and Bessie Smith are among her inspirations, she has also incorporated pop, rock, and folk influences, as well as chanson - she is also an admirer of Edith Piaf. She sings in the voice of the wrong and wronged woman and she makes us think what it is men make of women and what women have to do to make do.

Tickets are available from the Town Hall on 091 - 569777 or www.tht.ie
