Tommy Tiernan embraces the internet

Ahead of Vodafone Comedy Carnival Galway shows, comedian launches new YouTube channel

TOMMY TIERNAN has finally embraced the internet. Having spent years under the arc-lights of the stage Tommy has finally given in to pressure from the 21st century and joined the dark world of the web and opened his new YouTube channel - www.youtube.com/Tommedian - and social media hub, www.tommedian.com

As someone with a combined following already of more than a quarter of a million without ever really making the effort to Tweet or Facebook, he is hoping to reach people in places that he might never get to tour again. To get the ball rolling, Tommedian.com has opened its virtual doors for business with the first of a collection of self-made videos.

“Another platform and another type of content," says Tommy. "The video pieces are supposed to be funny. The essay pieces, both the written and the audio, are more serious. I hope ye enjoy...feel free to leave comments and subscribe. I’ll be putting up new stuff a few times a week and am hoping to live stream a stand up show from somewhere exotic like Offaly or Iceland in the not too distant future."

If you want to see Tommy in the flesh, rather than just online, you are in luck as the great man is playing four shows in Galway in October as part of his Under The Influence tour. He plays The Salthill Hotel on Wednesday October 18 in aid of Barna Furbo Utd FC. He also plays three nights at the Black Box Theatre as part of the Vodafone Comedy Carnival Galway - Friday 27, Saturday 28, and Sunday 29. For tickets see www.vodafonecomedycarnival.com
