The Galway minor footballers face Cavan in the All-Ireland quarter-final in Páirc Seán Mac Diarmada in Carrick on Shannon on Sunday (2pm ).
The minors, under the management of Stephen Joyce, Damien Tummon and Jason Taniane, qualified for this stage of the All-Ireland series courtesy of a solid 3-11 to 0-10 victory over Sligo in the Connacht final at Pearse Stadium a few weeks ago.
The three goals in that game were scored by Conor Campbell, Padraic Costello and Daniel Kenny.
Cavan were narrowly defeated by a good Derry side in the Ulster final, and they will be a tough nut to crack in two days' time.
Galway's powerful midfield partnership of Evan Murphy and Matthias Barrett have shown good form in the championship to date, and another powerful display will be required on Saturday if Galway are to advance.
Goalkeeper Oran Burke has impressed all season too, and team captain Seán Mulkerrin is a fine player at fullback and a youngster with a lot of potential.
His colleagues in that line, Eoin McFadden and Gavin Burke, who is a younger brother of senior player Ian Burke, are also accomplished performers.
Wing-back Liam Boyle from Kilkerrin/Clonberne was corner back on last year's team and has had some fine displays this season too from the half-back line.
Centre-back Seán Fitzgerald from Barna, who is a student in St Enda's College, has settled well into the position and has a great work-rate.
Up front Galway will be looking to Darragh Silke, Daniel Kenny, Conor Campbell and Pádraic Costello to lead the way.
Galway were defeated in last year's All-Ireland final by Kerry, and team manager Stephen Joyce says getting back to the final is this year's objective.
To keep that target alive, they will need to produce a solid performance on Saturday, beat Cavan, and take one more step towards having another crack at winning the Irish Press Cup.
