Sonya Kelly's Furniture for Druid Debuts

Galway International Arts Festival theatre event

FURNITURE, A new play by Sonya Kelly, has been announced as one of two titles for the Druid Debut series of staged readings at the 2017 Galway International Arts Festival.

A one time comedian, Kelly has since turned to theatre and acting, and is the author of the plays The Wheelchair On My Face and How to Keep An Alien. Furniture - which will be read in The Mick Lally Theatre on Friday July 21 at 2pm - looks at how possessions can shape our worldview and even ourselves. Told through the lives of six individuals, the play asks, if, in an age of rampant consumerism, if is it easier to purchase symbols of identity rather than cultivate our own?

Admission is €7. For booking see www.giaf.ie #GIAF17
