BADLY DRAWN Boy, Stockton's Wing, Donal Lunny and Andy Irvine, are among some of the musicians who will be performing at Monroe's Live as part of the 40th Galway International Arts Festival.
Badly Drawn Boy (aka English singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Damon Gough ) returns to Galway to play Monroe's Live on Saturday July 29. Her is best known for his classic 2000 album Hour Of The Bewilderbeast, for which he won the Mercury Prize.
Sharing a birthday with the festival itself, Stockton's Wing are also celebrating 40 years on the music scene. As part of their current Irish tour they play on Thursday July 20. Staying with folk and trad, one of the most important Irish trad bands, Altan, make a welcome return to the city with a show on Thursday July 27. folk legends Andy Irvine and Donal Lunny - who between them have been members of Planxty, The Bothy Band, and Moving Hearts - play on Sunday July 23.
Galway folk/Americana band The Whileaways, joined by The Saltwater Ensemble, bring the harmony vocal driven sound to Monroe's on Wednesday July 26, while Cavan jazz/pop singer Áine Cahill plays on Friday July 28. She won acclaim for her performance of 'Black Dahlia' at the BBC Glastonbury stage.
