THE ANNUAL lunchtime trad gigs, an essential part of any Galway International Arts Festival, return to Monroe’s Live, with shows taking place from July 20 to 22 and July 27 to 29.
The shows will feature leading trad musicians, with many joining forces especially for these shows. The opening gig is Laura Ugur (fiddle/piano ) and Saileog Ní Cheanabhain (violin/vocals ) on Thursday 20, followed by fiddlers Meabh O’Hare and Anne Marie McCormack with Josie Harrington (guitar/vocals ) on Friday 21.
The remaining gigs are Yvonne Casey (fiddle ) and Sinead Egan (guitar/vocals ) on Saturday 22; Ciara O’Connor (fiddle/cello ) and Sinead O’Connor (fiddle/piano ) on Thursday 27; Bernie McCarthy (fiddle ), Jacqui McCarthy (concertina ), and Marion McCarthy (uilleann pipes/whistles ) on Friday 28; and Floriane Blancke (harp ) and Claire Egan (fiddle/viola ) on Saturday 29.
