Calling all young and aspiring Galway documentary makers

Dig Where You Stand - new funding scheme for young filmmakers

DIG WHERE You Stand, a new funding scheme for young documentary filmmakers in Galway city and county, operated by the Galway Film Centre, is seeking applicants to create short films set in Galway.

The scheme supports young filmmakers to explore stories from their own region; examine issues of migration, landscape, and language, but which also have resonance across Europe; and tie-in with the themes invoked by Galway 2020 European Capital of Culture. It will provide opportunities for young/emerging filmmakers from diverse backgrounds to link into the Screen Talent Europe Network, and offer a professional progression route for filmmakers to connect with European counterparts.

The guidelines for the scheme include two individual short documentary films (10/15 minutes length ) to be produced, one in Galway city, and in County Galway; participating filmmakers must be based in Galway and be under 35; a budget of up to €6,000 is available per film; participating filmmakers will be mentored by established documentary filmmakers; Galway Film Centre will provide support through equipment, advice and assistance.

The deadline for applications is Monday July 17 at 5pm. For more information email [email protected] or call 091 - 770748.
