FULL CIRCLE may be the name of a long forgotten post-Jim Morrison album by The Doors but it is also the title of an exhibition by abstract artist Selma McCormack, which is certain to make an impact when it opens tomorrow.
Full Circle, an exhibition of paintings and sculpture by artist Selma McCormack opens at The Kenny Gallery, Liosbán Retail Park, Tuam Road, at 6pm. The guest speaker is arts writer and academic Gerry Walker.
It is 25 years since The Kenny Gallery first exhibited the sculpture and paintings of Selma McCormack. The new exhibition will mark this and celebrate the artist's renewed creative impetus after recovering from serious illness. Thus she has come 'full cirle'.

An abstract colourist, McCormack paints from a purposeful impulse – a blast of expression from her subconscious , but one that is directed and carefully curated by the artist’s eye, to produce an image which must harmoniously ‘ring-true’.
While her paintings are abstract, the sculptures in this exhibition are figurative depictions of dancers, bulls, gymnasts, and equestrian pieces. Her media is mostly clay brought to either a cast bronze or fired ceramic finish.
The exhibition continues daily, 9pm to 5pm, Mondays to Saturdays until July 20. Admission is free and all are welcome.
