Rising Appalachia - two sisters and a world of folk music

American duo to play Monroe's in July

BORN AND raised in Atlanta, Georgia, with a soul and sound yearning for the mountains and music of Appalachia, and the hard work put in on the streets of New Orleans - this is Rising Appalachia.

Rising Appalachia - sisters Leah and Chloe, percussionist Biko Casini ,and bassist/guitarist David Brown - play Monroe’s BackStage Bar on Wednesday July 19 at 8pm.

The band brings with it a collection of sounds, stories, and songs steeped in tradition and devoted to world culture. Whether playing at Red Rocks or in rail cars, at Italian street fairs or to Bulgarian herbalists, this fiercely independent band have blazed a unique and colourful path across the globe. Their music is a melting pot of folk music simplicity, textured songwriting, sibling harmonies, world music rhythms, and spoken word poetry.
