Galway Community Pride fundraising events

Bingo, Pride idol, and a table quiz with Steven Sharpe and Steve Benett

THE COUNTDOWN has begun to the 2017 Galway Community Pride festival which runs from August Monday 7 to Sunday 13, and in advance of that, a number of fun fundraising events will take place.

To help Pride, and to have some craic, there will be a fundraising table quiz on June 19 in the Róisín Dubh, hoisted by comedian Steve Bennett and singer-songwriter Steven Sharpe; there will be a bingo night in Nova and Pride Idol. With a big cash prize and a spot on the main stage at the festival, Nova and Pride are looking for singers to take part in Pride Idol every Thursday leading up to the main event. For more information see galwaypride.com or facebook.com/GalwayCommunityPrideFestival “We’ve some big announcements coming up in the next few weeks that include the final details of the events and who will be our grand marshals to lead out the parade on the Saturday.” said Rob Partridge, chair of Galway Community Pride. “With all the preparations we’ve been making this is a Pride Festival is not to be missed.”

The festival itself will have workshops on mental and sexual health on the Tuesday and Wednesday; a BTQIA+ night with panel discussion and ending with a 'cheesy pop' event on Thursday; comedy on the Friday in The Loft; the Pride parade and a family day event on the Saturday.
