SIX GRADUATES from the third year GMIT art and design course will exhibit a collection of prints, to celebrate the completion of their degree, in the NUI Galway quadrangle art gallery.
Entitled CODA, the exhibition will be opened on Sunday by lecturer and artist Sioban Piercy, and feature work by Jenny Newman, Micheál de Brún, Ola Jagielska, Patricia Bomba, Luke Reidy, and Laney Mannion.
Newman, from Annaghdown, will display her Reclamation Series, consisting of four digital prints exploring, through the manipulation of light, the importance of place and belonging and the effect of displacement on the human psyche. Galway's Micheál de Brún [pictured with one of his works below], will show a series of screen-prints entitled Galway Bay.

Works by Poland's Ola Jagielska are abstract, exploring erosion and beauty in disintegration, with contrasts in form and colour. Patricia Bomba is also from Poland. Her work is based on the connection between people and nature and connections of sound, vibrations, and physical reality. Clare's Luke Reidy has an interest in photography and abstraction and uses these to explore human emotions through screen-printing. Connemara's Laney Mannion will be showing a series of woodcut prints containing five years of "inner dialogue".
The exhibition runs until May 21. The gallery is open daily from 11am to 4pm.
