William McCarthy - Music For The People

Former Augustines' frontman to play next Nocturne gig as part of CĂșirt 2017 festival

WILLIAM MCCARTHY was songwriter and vocalist of the American indie rock band Augustines, but since that band's split, he has embarked on a solo journey as a singer-songwriter, storyteller, visual artist, and troubadour.

McCarthy is currently touring his new show, Music For The People, which he brings to Loam restaurant, Fair Green, this Sunday, for the latest Nocturne gig, as part of the Cúirt International Festival of Literature.

He will perform songs, tell stories, and read from his journals. Those who have been to an Augustines' show know how close McCarthy gets to the audience, often playing a couple of songs right in the centre of the crowd. The shows on this tour promise to be intimate and unique, and offer fans the chance to get up close and personal with McCarthy, who will performing his songs in a bare, stripped back setting.

His shows have been called “a jaw-dropping, knockabout odyssey” (Independent.co.uk ); “McCarthy effectively seized gentle command of every iota of emotion in the room” (Quays News ); “He can take a room from engrossed silence to arms-in-the-air ecstasy in minutes” (Listen Up Manchester ).

McCarthy also invites his fans to support his future projects – a podcast titled “Onward with William McCarthy live from Berlin”, new music and a book – via the crowdfunding website patreon.

Doors are at 7pm. Show starts at 8pm. Admission is €20. See www.roisindubh.net and www.cuirt.ie
