AL KENNEDY, the Scottish author, columnist, commentator, and stand-up comic, is coming to Cúírt to read at an event alongside Conor O’Callaghan, shortlist nominee for the Kerry Group Novel of the Year.
AL Kennedy was born in Dundee and is the author of six literary novels, a science fiction novel, seven short story collections, and three works of non-fiction. She is a fellow of both the Royal Society of Arts and the Royal Society of Literature. She won the 2007 Costa Book Award and the Austrian State Prize for International Literature.
The Scotswoman also writes for the stage, radio, TV, and film, and performs stand-up comedy. "The opportunity to speak directly to an audience and throw words about and play with stories is a great privilege," she said of her comedic work, "And a huge release of tension."

Conor O’Callaghan is the author of four books of poetry including Fiction (2005 ), shortlisted for The Irish Times Poetry Now Award. He also wrote the best spelling sports book, Red Mist: Roy Keane and the Football Civil War. His debut novel, Nothing On Earth, about a family living on an Irish ghost estate, has been shortlisted for the Kerry Group Award.
