The Cellar gets set to go Deeper

THE CELLAR Bar on Eglinton Street is about to become a great centre of live original music, DJ nights, and themed parties, when its basement section is re-launched as Deeper.

Over the past number of weeks the basement at The Cellar has undergone reshaping and renovations, including a new state of the art sound and lighting system. This weekend it will be relaunched as Deeper.

Tomorrow sees the launch of TheReleaseParty in Deeper. The party is designed as an event where, for a few hours at least, people can take their minds off the recession and other global problems. Think of it as somewhere to go to release all these pent up feelings, have a dance and a drink, where you can smile and speak. See www.thereleaseparty.ie On Saturday at 10.30pm the legendary club night SHAKE! makes its debut at Deeper. For this debut, Ray McDonnell and Aran McMahon have invited a man whose production credits include Ian Brown, St Etienne, and The Charlatans - AIM (aka DJ and producer Andy Turner ).

A succession of great live shows including festival appearances at Glastonbury, Wireless, and Electric Picnic established the 10-piece AIM live band as one of the best dance acts around.

For 2009, however, AIM is going back to his roots as one man and his box of tunes, celebrating the long-awaited re-issues of his acclaimed albums Cold Water Music and Hinterland.

Sunday sees the return of original live music to the Eglinton Street venue with the birth of DeeperLive with performances by Apartment 44, Itopia, Peter Bradly & Donal McConnon.

DeeperLive aims to be a both a showcase and an outlet for Galway’s young original acts. There will be a minimum of three live bands/acts each night and admission is free.
