Galway camogie supporters will be heading to Semple Stadium on Sunday for an attractive double-header.
Galway seniors will face champions Kilkenny in the Littlewoods Ireland Camogie League division one semi-final at 4pm, preceded by the minor A championship semi-final between Galway and Cork at 2pm.
Galway seniors, who topped their group with four wins, secured the win over Limerick last weekend by 1-13 to 0-9 at Duggan Park. Although both had already qualified from group 2, the outing proved a good test before the semi-final.
While Ailish O’Reilly and Niamh Mulcahy provided seven of Limerick's points, Linda Loughnane notched a crucial goal for Galway, while Niamh Kilkenny raised three white flags.
Galway manager Mark Dunne says Galway are now starting to gel in what is a long year.
"Happy enough with that performance, they showed well and the attitude was good. It is nice to top the group and move onto the next step.
"You can't beat competitive games and Limerick was biggest test up till now, and that's what you need. You don't want to be going into final not having been unchallenged, and they challenged us. They are hard, tough, good hurlers, and we would be at a loss next week if we hadn't had that game. Hopefully that will have brought us on another bit.
"We are not quite there yet, there are a few things to work on, but that was massive game for us - both teams going hammer and tongs, and it didn't ease up. It was a good physical battle and hopefully we'll go again with the same effort on Sunday."
Kilkenny finished second in group one, falling to their second defeat of the campaign last weekend in a tight 0-12 to 0-11 match against table-toppers Cork, who now face Limerick.
