Is managing your neck pain part of your daily routine?

We all can agree that the use of computers and cell phones as part of our daily lives and work has become increasingly prominent. Banking, social media, work/school assignments, the list goes on and on. Common symptoms associated with neck pain are:

Sharp pain: stabbing, stinging in the lower neck muscles und mid shoulder blades.

Radiating pain: burning, searing pain along a nerve from the neck into the shoulders and arms.

Tingling, numbness, or weakness: these sensations may radiate into the shoulder, arm or finger as “pins and needles”.

Headaches: tension headaches are common and are the result from tight neck muscles. A pinched occipital nerve in the neck causes pain to radiate up into the head’s sides and scalp.

The above symptoms are often the result of a “forward head, flexed head, or text neck” posture. This can cause permanent changes to the alignment of the cervical spine (neck ). Joints and muscles in the neck are at their weakest when the head stays flexed for long periods at a time, creating tight and weak neck muscles, wear and tear on the joints, and/or “locking” of the joints. Chiropractic care (spine mobilisation and manipulation ) increases range of motion, decreases pain and stiffness and improves posture.

At Galway City Chiropractic we will advise you on the benefit of spinal manipulation with a technique that is safe, most effective, and tailored to your needs. We will also make recommendations on a healthy ergonomic office set up, proper posture, and an exercise regime to keep your spine aligned and healthy.
