What Eamonn has to say about being Irish

Ill-Advised Theatre Company present Eamonn (From Menswear) as part of Galway Theatre Festival

WHAT DO Irish cultural identity and ‘having the craic’ mean in a post-truth world? What makes someone Irish? These are the weighty themes of a new musical-comedy which will also ask, "And do you have these in a size nine?"

Ill-Advised Theatre Company will stage the one-man musical comedy, Eamonn (From Menswear ), in the Mick Lally Theatre, Druid Lane, from Friday April 21 to Sunday 23 at 7pm, as part of the Galway Theatre Festival.

Through rap, comedy, and theatre, Eamonn (From Menswear ), written and performed by Fionn Foley (TG4’s EIPIC ) will examine issues of immigration, discrimination, the Irish psyche, and its resilience under the pressure of the current worldwide political and social climate. The show enjoyed a successful run in Dublin, winning critial acclaim.

The Daily Mail called it, "sharp and slick...Eamonn goes full throttle at freestyling, even pulling off hip-hop with aplomb". Exeunt magazine called it, "a shrewd exploration of identity politics in modern Ireland, one that could inspire a new fashion of understanding".

Tickets are €13/12/8 from www.galwaytheatrefestival.com or the Town Hall Theatre (091 - 569777, www.tht.ie ).
