Corinthians keep hopes alive

An explosive 15 minute period in the second half ensured Corinthians grabbed a valuable AIB League victory by 24-13 to keep their hopes alive of avoiding relegation from division 2A. Ahead now are three massive games, starting with Queens in Corinthian Park next Saturday.

In a low scoring opening half, Cashel was missed an early opportunity, before Corinthians' Jack Feeney struck a penalty to open the score. The visitors, however, equalised with a penalty to level the scores 3-3 at half time.

Nothing in the opening half suggested what would follow as Corinthians ran in three tries in the space of 15 minutes. First Ross Keller danced through the cover to score, and this was followed by Dylan Donnellan, who collected after again good work by his pack. The third try came from Simon Keller, who again made great inroads after a sweeping move that featured at least seven players with Lise Soloa prominent.

Cashel did respond when Baker broke through the cover, but Corinthians held on for an important win.

Now the Galway outfit will be looking for a big performance on Saturday in a game that will have a major bearing on their league season.
